My name is Melani and I have been serching for a good belly dancer for a very long time. There are so many out there, but unfortunately it is a nightmare to find somebody who has the right qualification, is passionate about dance and can actually teach. One thing I've learned very quickly. Being a beautiful dancer, does not make a good teacher or performer. It takes a special kind of person to be able to relate to students or an audience.
I created this site to help other, and I am sure there are many like me out there, to find this right person. I could tell you who I found and is in my opinion the best, but I guess you should make up your own mind.
Where to start?
First of all you have to find out who is available in your area.
How?
What you are looking for? Belly Dance Classes, Belly Dance Teacher or Belly Dance Entertainment
1) Internet: Go to Google Search and type in Belly Dance Classes, Teacher or Entertainment followed by your town and Country. I.e: London UK. There are also many sites out there with a teacher listing.
2) Local Papers: Good Belly Dancers advertise in the local paper. Look under "What's On", "Entertainment" and "Dance Classes"
3) Local Community Centres: Call them and ask if they run a belly dance class or know of a belly dancer in your area and get contact details. E-mail, Tel number or web address.
Established belly dancers have a web site. If they don't, don't bother.
You may think now, hold on a minute! Not everybody is computer literate, able to write a web site or has the money to pay somebody to do it, or worst of all don't even have a computer.
You are perfectly right!!!!
If you haven't got a computer, go to the library - it's free - and use one of the many free web site builders like this one www.webs.com. If you can't use a computer, find somebody amoung your friends and family who can (ask your child) - it's free. Be resourceful!!!
In my opinion there is no excuse.
